When someone dies, there are a number of practical steps that need to take place before a funeral can go ahead. For families across Lincolnshire, this can feel unfamiliar, especially at an emotional time.
One of the first stages is the Medical Examiner process. A Medical Examiner is an independent senior doctor who reviews the cause of death to ensure it has been recorded accurately. They will check medical records, speak with the attending doctor, and may contact the next of kin to offer reassurance and answer any questions.
Once this process is complete, the death can be registered. In Lincolnshire, this is done through the local Register Office, usually by appointment. You will be asked to provide details such as the person’s full name, date of birth, last address, and occupation. Once registered, you will receive the certificate needed for the funeral to proceed.
Funerals across Lincolnshire may take place at venues such asSouth Lincolnshire Crematorium, Lincoln Crematorium, Lea Fields Crematorium, Alford Crematorium, Grantham Crematorium, Grimsby Crematorium, Scunthorpe Crematorium, Boston Crematorium as well as at local churches and burial grounds. Your funeral director will arrange all bookings, and I will support you in creating a service that reflects the life of the person you are remembering.
