After a death, there are several steps that need to be completed before a funeral can take place. For families in Cambridgeshire, understanding this process can help bring clarity during a difficult time.

A Medical Examiner will review the cause of death to ensure it is accurate and properly recorded. They will examine medical records, speak with the attending doctor, and may contact the family to offer reassurance and answer any questions.

Once the Medical Examiner has completed their checks, the death can be registered. This is usually done through the local Register Office by appointment. You will need to provide details such as the person’s name, date of birth, address, and occupation. After registration, we will issue the necessary certificate so the funeral can proceed.

Funerals in Cambridgeshire are often held at venues such as Cambridge Crematorium, Fenland Crematorium, Huntingdon Cemetery & Crematorium, Peterborough Crematorium, Cam Valley Crematorium, as well as local burial grounds. Your funeral director will manage arrangements, and I will work with you to create a personal and meaningful service.
