Purpose
This policy explains the ownership and permitted use of the ceremony scripts, readings and other written materials I create as part of my services as a Minister and Celebrant.
Policy
Every ceremony I prepare is individually written for the client and is protected by copyright law.
The ceremony script, together with any original wording, reflections, introductions, tributes, readings or other written content that I create, remains my intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Clients are welcome to keep a copy of their ceremony script for their own personal use as a treasured keepsake and record of the occasion.
However, my written work must not be copied, reproduced, adapted, published, distributed, sold or used for commercial purposes without my prior written permission.
The ceremony has been written specifically for the individual or family concerned and is intended to be delivered by me as the appointed Minister or Celebrant. It must not be delivered, copied or presented by another celebrant or person without my written consent.
Nothing in this policy prevents family members or others from reading poems, tributes, prayers or personal contributions that have been agreed as part of the ceremony.
Where clients provide material that belongs to them or obtain permission to use third-party content, copyright for that material remains with the original owner.
Unauthorised use of my original work may constitute an infringement of copyright and appropriate action may be taken to protect my intellectual property rights.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation or professional guidance.
